Terry Deacon was asked in Nov. 2011, when his book
came out, to acknowledge that many of the ideas and
argumentation contained therein were first to be found
in Alicia Juarrero's 1999 book and in Evan Thompson's
Deacon refused to make these acknowledgements. On closer examination a disturbing pattern of "borrowings" seemed to emerge involving more sources. (more)
The tool did a "similarity comparison" of materials submitted versus the source materials. Higher scores indicate higher similarity. The tool teh did a further keyword analysis to check results against the web as a whole.
A research version of the tool accepts uploads of 50 words or more for comparisons and can be accessed here.
We ran the tool on each of the Chapters from Deacon's book. These results can be found here.
The tool references 75 sources from which it has been alleged Deacon drew and more than 20 of Deacon's own works. The full list of these sources can be found here.
